Here’s Me

I want to share the joy of cooking and travel with everyone!

French Toast Casserole

French Toast Casserole

Prep: 5 minutes Bake: 35-40 minutes

I have been seeing variations of this dish on my socials so I decided to take a stab! Which I think is the most common activity I’ve been doing in here lately. This version should serve about 8 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 tube of Pillsbury Buttermilk Grands biscuits (8 inside)

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1-2 tbls cinnamon (or more if like me and just love cinnamon)

  • 2 eggs

  • Dash of vanilla extract

Prep

  1. Preheat Oven to 400 F (204 C)

  2. Slice the biscuits into 4 even pieces

  3. Dump into a dutch oven or casserole dish that is small enough to let them fill the bottom

  4. Whisk the eggs, milk, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla together in a bowl

  5. Pour over the biscuits and mix to make sure all pieces are getting soaked

  6. Cover and bake 20-25 minutes, the biscuits should start puffing up and absorbing the milk mixture

  7. Finish baking uncovered another 5-10 minutes until the top starts crisping and turning golden. Depending on how thick you make it, the bottom or center will need more time to crisp too

  8. Serve with syrup or as desired!

Afterthoughts

This was super easy though I had to hone in the baking time. I tried to base it on the biscuits when it needed more time and heat with the added liquid. It tasted about how my french toast always does with a little more crisp on the top layer! In the future I wanna try mixing in some sausage too!
