Places to See: The Greene in Dayton, Ohio

Places to See: The Greene in Dayton, Ohio

If any of your travels leads you to Southwest Ohio and near Dayton, Ohio on a day of great weather, than your adventure should include The Greene. Located off Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek, this outdoor shopping center brings many forms of entertainment with your shopping. It also brings food, snacks, treats, a movie theatre, comedy club and more.

When you first turn in to the Greene, you’ll worry about where you can possibly park. I am partial to the open lot to the right of the main lane, but my mom prefers the garage. When you’ve parked you have many places to meander. Are you feeling hungry? Do you want a walking milkshake? Do you want to catch a show, catch some rays, or start shopping til you drop?

As you wander the streets you will notice the lighter brick motif that feels new and shiny instead of old and antique as brick normally gives. The wide sidewalks, roads and open space give the impression of new and modern even without the chrome or metal that usually goes with it. You’ll see shops common in any mall such as Forever XI, Claire’s, Journeys, Sephora, and more but also some less common and more independent shops that hold lesser known designers like Dry Goods and Altrd State. You can catch an Apple Store for electronics or things such as Lulu mon and more for athletic wear. My personal favourite is the massive bookstore, Books A Million, that has two stories of books, magazines, toys, and office supplies.

When you need a meal you have choices from all over the map. A Pho place, ice cream, tacos, Indian, Italian, British, Asian, Mongolian, and straight up seafood. You can also get a walking pretzel from Aunti Anne’s and subs at Potbelly’s or lounge in a Cheesecake Factory. A meal before a movie at the Cinemark or before a show at Funny Bone comedy club. There’s a little something for everyone at the Green. The center of the place is a large open green with a pavilion for hosting events and a ground fountain that shoots water jets in the summer for kids to run through. The wide sidewalks and pathways are a popular place for dog owners to help train dogs for crowds and more. Some bring dogs that are up for adoption to help meet potential families.

The Greene is an outdoor mall and so much more. A place that has something to offer for anyone on any given day. A great place to get away from home and stretch your legs on a gorgeous day. The Greene will keep you entertained or help you relax when you need to get away and want to burn some money and time.
