Homemade Herb French Fries

Homemade Herb French Fries

Prep: 5 minutes plus 30 for sitting Bake 30 minutes

I’ve been making burgers and finally wanted some fries. There are multiple ways to accomplish this and I didn’t want to clean up a deep fryer setup so I learned how to bake them. This worked out great and tasted amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 russet potatoes

  • Olive Oil

  • Salt

  • Pepper

  • Italian Seasoning

  1. Preheat oven to 475 F (245 C)

  2. Slice the potatoes to an even thickness to make the fry shape

  3. Add to a bowl of cool water and allow to sit for about 30 minutes (this helps reduce starch according to the internet)

  4. Take a big enough baking tray and coat the bottom with a layer of olive oil

  5. Add the salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning as desired

  6. When the fries are ready, dry them in a paper town then lay flat on the tray with some space between fries

  7. Add more seasoning to the top if you’d like

  8. Cover with foil and bake for five minutes

  9. Uncover and bake at least 10-15 more minutes while checking on them for how golden brown they get

  10. Take them out and use either a spatula or tongs like I did to flip and then bake uncovered for another 10 minutes or so until brown

  11. Take out and let cool a touch before eating

Afterthoughts

These came out great. The herb choice I made worked wonders and I didn’t even feel the need to add my usual ketchup with them. They were easy and super soft inside, with crispier outsides. This was a great way to add more with my burgers.
